What the heck?

We know, it sounds bad. But here are some details that may ease your mind. Proposition 65 is a unique California "right to know" law that requires businesses to provide warnings for exposures to chemicals listed by the State of California as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The law covers more than 900 chemicals, including some naturally occurring ones like heavy metals found in soil and water, which can make their way into a variety of food products. Kale for example, is a bio accumulator of trace amounts of heavy metals (yes, even Organic kale). We us a lot of kale, and this alone is enough to trigger the warning.

Our food is made using the highest quality ingredients, no artificial anything, and no preservatives.

Nothing changed other than the size of our company. This is legally required for companies with more than 10 employees (not us) AND for companies working with major retailers (this is us).
Absolutely. Proposition 65’s warning threshold levels are almost always much lower than health-based thresholds set by U.S. federal health and safety regulators, as well as those elsewhere in the world. For reproductive toxicants, for example, the level is set at 1,000 times below the level at which no effect is expected to be observed based on animal studies.
