What the heck?
We know, it sounds bad. But here are some details that may ease your mind. Proposition 65 is a unique California "right to know" law that requires businesses to provide warnings for exposures to chemicals listed by the State of California as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The law covers more than 900 chemicals, including some naturally occurring ones like heavy metals found in soil and water, which can make their way into a variety of food products. Kale for example, is a bio accumulator of trace amounts of heavy metals. Because our meals use real vegetables grown in real soil, trace amounts of naturally occurring elements like heavy metals may be present—even in organic produce. Proposition 65 applies to finished consumer products. Because our meals are packaged and sold as complete products, they require evaluation and labeling under this law. Fresh produce, like kale, is regulated differently and typically does not carry the same warning, even though similar naturally occurring substances may be present.
Our meals are made with real, whole ingredients—no artificial additives or preservatives.
